Dr. Manar Ghanem, member of the Authority’s Media Center, revealed MeteorologyTemperatures in Egypt are witnessing a noticeable increase during the current days, explaining that although we are at the height of winter, which is supposed to witness a decline in temperature values at this time of the year, all pressure distributions differed significantly during the winter of this year, and most of the sources of influencing air masses are desert, with the presence of an air high in the upper layers of the atmosphere.

Meteorology: The peak temperature reaches 29 degrees in Cairo, despite the peak of winter

She continued during a phone call on the “Al-Sawra” program presented by media personality Lamis Al-Hadidi on Al-Nahar TV, saying: All of these factors led to temperature values rising and being higher than their normal rates at this time of the year. She continued: Today we witnessed the peak of the highs. The highest temperature in Greater Cairo recorded 29 degrees Celsius, so the weather tends to be more spring and summer than winter, and it is nine degrees higher than normal.

Ghanem revealed a surprise, stressing that the rise in temperature values will continue throughout the current week and until the middle of next, even if it is lower than today, but the weather will still tend toward spring and summer and not winter, especially during the daytime periods, as the high tomorrow in Cairo will be recorded between 27 and 28 degrees Celsius, which is higher than normal rates.

In response to the question: “Winter is over and will it come again?” Dr. Manar Ghanem responded, saying: As long as we are in the winter season, it is expected that there will be wintry conditions, and the rise in temperature values will continue until the middle of next week, with lower values but higher than normal rates, except for Wednesday and Thursday, which will be different with a slight decrease, with the high in Cairo recording between 22 and 23 degrees Celsius.

Regarding her expectations for the month of Ramadan, she said: It is officially supposed to come in the winter, but most temperatures will be higher than normal, with severe drops at night and cold weather. That is why we say not to lighten your clothes excessively, and heavy winter clothes are important, especially at night.

She concluded: Winter will officially end on March 20, and until its official end there is no point in reducing clothing. At least we will see significant decreases at night.
