Major General Majid Al-Ashqar said that the Court of Cassation ruled to accept the appeal against the results of the elections in the Minya Al-Qamh district in the Sharkia Governorate, and issued a final ruling invalidating the electoral process in the district, with an order to repeat it again in accordance with the established legal procedures.

The Court of Cassation accepts Major General Majed Al-Ashqar’s appeal and rules that the Minya Al-Qamh elections are invalid

The court decided to invalidate the membership of Representative Muhammad Shahdah and Representative Khaled Mashour, and to re-run the elections in the district again.
The Court of Cassation’s ruling came after examining the appeal submitted by Major General Majid Al-Ashqar, which included a number of legal reasons and defenses related to the conduct of the electoral process, and similar violations and procedures – according to the appeal – that the appellant considered affecting the safety and integrity of the elections and the will of the voters.

The court, after reviewing the case papers and the documents submitted therein, concluded that what was stated in the appeal was correct, and ruled to accept it in form and substance. The ruling results in the reopening of elections in the Minya al-Qamh district, in accordance with what the National Elections Authority decides, considering the ruling of the Court of Cassation to be final and binding on all parties, and it may not be appealed by any means of appeal.
