The Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, under the patronage of Professor Dr. Gina El-Feki, Acting President of the Academy, and in cooperation with the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas and the Agricultural Genetic Engineering Research Institute, announced the organization of a specialized training workshop entitled: “Fundamental Applications of Genome Editing and Its Regulation” (Basic Applications of Genome Editing and Its Regulatory Frameworks), during the period from April 26 to 30, 2026.

The Academy of Scientific Research organizes an international workshop on genome editing to improve agricultural crops

The workshop aims to build national capabilities in the field of gene editing, by providing practical training on the latest CRISPR technologies and their applications in improving agricultural crops, which contributes to supporting food security and promoting innovation in the agricultural field.

The workshop targets researchers, scientists, farmers, media professionals and decision-makers, as part of the state’s drive towards expanding the scientific knowledge base and linking scientific research to development applications.
