The General Authority of Meteorology, through the General Department of Forecasts and Early Warning, announced details of the case the weather It is expected today, Tuesday, January 20, 2026, indicating a slight drop in temperatures in the north of the country up to Greater Cairo.
Very cold weather
Very cold weather prevails in the early morning, tending to cold during the day in the north of the country up to Greater Cairo, and tending to warm in the south of the country, while it is very cold at night in most parts.
Frost also forms on crops in the regions of northern Upper Egypt, central Sinai, and the Western Desert.
Shaboura and light rain
The authority indicated that water mist will form from 3 to 10 a.m., which may be dense at times in areas of Sinai and the canal cities, and on some roads leading to and from the north of the country as far as Greater Cairo and northern Upper Egypt.
Chances of light rain are also expected on areas of the northern coast, northern Lower Egypt, and the Matrouh Desert, at intermittent intervals.
Low clouds and wind activity
Low clouds will appear over areas of Lower Egypt, Greater Cairo, and the Canal cities, which may result in light, ineffective drizzle.
The winds are also active in areas from the north of the country to Greater Cairo and the Canal cities, and may raise sand and dust in areas of Salloum, Matrouh, and parts of the Western Desert at intermittent intervals.
The Authority confirmed that these forecasts were issued after studying the latest weather maps, with a warning to follow up on updates in the event of any change, and called on citizens to take all necessary preparations and measures to limit the effects resulting from the expected weather phenomena, wishing safety for all.
