Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, received Ambassador Al-Hussein Sidi Abdullah Al-Diya, Ambassador of Mauritania in Cairo. To discuss ways of cooperation between Egypt and Mauritania in the educational and research fields.

This came in the presence of Dr. Ismail Ismail Ibrahim, Acting President of Kafrelsheikh University, Ambassador Ihab Fahmy, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Arab Affairs, Dr. Ayman Farid, Assistant Minister and Head of the Cultural Affairs and Missions Sector, Ahmed Abdel Ghani, Head of the Central Administration for International Student Affairs, Dr. Al-Mukhtar Al-Jilani, Cultural Attaché at the Mauritanian Embassy in Cairo, and Brehan Amer, Third Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at the Ministry’s headquarters in the new capital.

The Minister of Higher Education confirms: providing all aspects of support to Mauritanian students studying at Egyptian universities and institutes

The Minister affirmed Egypt’s keenness to strengthen and develop cooperation with Mauritania in the fields of higher education and scientific research, which reflects the depth of the fraternal relations linking the two brotherly countries, noting the Ministry’s interest in developing and consolidating these relations in a way that serves common interests.

He stressed the keenness of the Ministry of Higher Education to provide all aspects of support to Mauritanian students studying in Egyptian universities and institutes, and to ensure the best educational environment for foreign students, within the framework of the “Study in Egypt” initiative adopted by the Ministry, which aims to strengthen cooperation relations with various countries, pointing to the readiness of Egyptian universities to exchange their academic and research expertise with the Mauritanian side, and to enhance cooperation in scientific research, innovation and capacity building, especially in priority specializations, and open new horizons for institutional cooperation between Egyptian and Mauritanian universities.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to enhance educational and research cooperation between the two countries, with a focus on supporting Mauritanian students in Egyptian universities, overcoming the challenges they face, and the possibility of increasing scholarships offered to Mauritanian students, in addition to enhancing cooperation in research projects of common interests.

For his part, the Mauritanian ambassador praised the historical relations between Egypt and Mauritania, expressing his country’s aspiration to enhance cooperation in higher education and scientific research, noting the increasing desire of Mauritanian students to study in Egyptian universities due to their distinguished educational reputation, and thanked the Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education for its concern for the comfort of Mauritanian students. Which enhances Egypt’s position as an important educational destination.
