Mahfouz explained through the State of Recitation program that health and personal circumstances prevented him from continuing his participation in the competition, stressing his appreciation for the efforts made by those in charge of the program and thanking the jury for their guidance and support throughout the period of his participation.
Mohamed Mahfouz’s apology comes before the completion of the program’s episodes designated for the final qualifiers, allowing the rest of the contestants to shine and compete for the program’s title in its next stages.
Earlier, the jury in the State of Recitation program praised the outstanding performance of the contestants Muhammad Wafik and Mahmoud Kamal during today’s episode, stressing that both of them presented good recitations with a high level of feeling and accuracy.
Dr. Ali Jumaa, a member of the jury, stated that the two reciters were like betting horses, and their performance was good, explaining that Muhammad Wafiq was more successful in reciting Surat An-Nahl, while Mahmoud Kamal excelled in reciting Surat Al-Baqarah.
On the other hand, the representative of the Qur’an Review Committee at Al-Azhar pointed out that Muhammad Wafiq made some mistakes in the singing, while Mahmoud Kamal was distinguished by the richness of the sound and the increase in the prolongation of some words.
For his part, the Maqamat expert described the recitation as elegant and with a high feeling by Sheikh Mahmoud Kamal, stressing that the performance does not depend solely on the strength of the voice, while he pointed out that Muhammad Wafik faced some trembling in his voice at the beginning, but it faded later.
