Today, Sherif Fathi, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, chaired the meeting of the Board of Directors of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, at the ministry’s headquarters in the New Capital, beginning by congratulating all members of the Board of Directors of the Supreme Council of Antiquities on the occasion of the approaching new Gregorian year.
Tourism: Adding the Step Pyramid and the Southern Cemetery to the combined ticket to visit the Saqqara Antiquities area
The Council agreed to increase the value of the reward for receiving the archaeological covenant for the owners of the archaeological covenant and the officials of the archives deposited in case, in all museums and antiquities stores affiliated with the Supreme Council of Antiquities, and to modify the daily wage for excavation workers and others who are used within the work of archaeological missions in various archaeological sites throughout the Republic.
This comes in addition to the approval to include a visit to the Step Pyramid of Djoser from the southern entrance and the Southern Cemetery in Saqqara within the combined ticket to visit the comprehensive Saqqara archaeological area. This is in addition to the adoption of some recommendations of the Evaluation and Negotiation Committee regarding the operation of services at a number of archaeological sites and museums, in light of adherence to the applicable legal and regulatory rules, including approval to contract with a company to restore and rehabilitate King Farouk’s Rest House in the Giza Pyramids area.
The members of the Board of Directors accepted a number of donations, which included 12 air purifying devices from Sharp Al Arabi Company, to provide a healthy environment inside the rooms of the pyramids of King Khafre and King Menkaure in the Giza Pyramids area, in addition to 8 environmentally friendly devices to remove humidity, for use in the areas of the Giza Pyramids and Saqqara, to improve the air quality inside the archaeological sites.
