Tawfiq Al-Sayed, the arbitration expert, confirmed that the arbitration decisions in a match Morocco Senegal sparked widespread controversy, indicating that divine justice was present in the meeting.
Tawfiq Al-Sayed said, in statements on the “Number One” program, presented by journalist Mohamed Shabana, and broadcast on the “CBC” channel, that the penalty kick awarded in favor of Morocco was correct from his point of view, even though it was Achraf Hakimi who started the contact with the Senegalese defender.
The arbitration expert added that the disallowed goal for the Senegalese team was a correct goal, stressing that the referee made a mistake by blowing his whistle before the ball entered the goal, and he should have waited and resorted to the video assistant referee (VAR) technology.
Tawfiq Al-Sayyid criticized the level of African refereeing in the African Cup of Nations, describing it as “very bad,” noting that there was prejudice against Egyptian referees. He also stressed that the referee of the final match was not up to the level of the event, with a clear absence of standards for penalties and warnings throughout the tournament.
