Major General Khaled Mujawar: International visits to North Sinai reveal the truth about Egyptian efforts on the ground
Megawer stressed, during statements on the Extra News screen, that the Egyptian role in managing the crisis is widely appreciated, and that the continuation of these visits reflects the international community’s confidence in Egyptian mechanisms.
The governor of North Sinai added that international officials’ monitoring of the scene on the ground is radically different from their reliance on reports or information received from devices or media outlets inside closed rooms, noting that visiting field sites, seeing warehouses, and the mechanism for entering aid through the crossing makes a big difference in forming impressions.
He explained that many of the ambassadors and officials who visited Sinai during the past weeks showed a great deal of astonishment after seeing the real reality on the ground, stressing that the field vision made some of them request to accompany other officials from their countries to see the truth about what Egypt is doing.
Major General Mujawar stressed that the international official’s visit comes as an extension of European support for Egypt, not only with regard to humanitarian aid, but also in political and economic files, noting that the success of Egyptian policy was clearly demonstrated in the reception of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi in the European Union, and then in reaching the Sharm El-Sheikh agreement and a ceasefire, which paves the way for the transition to the next stage of settlement efforts.
