During the past hours, the North Cairo Bar Association witnessed a state of controversy after a complaint was circulated on social media, filed by an Emirati woman against the head of the North Cairo Bar Association, Amr Mohieldin, which prompted the latter to issue an explanatory statement in which he announced that he had taken a set of legal measures inside and outside Egypt.
Captain of North Cairo
Mohieldin said in a statement: The complaint circulating includes incorrect allegations about him receiving sums of money unlawfully, stressing that the documents and correspondence exchanged between them – audio and written – prove that the client has the remainder of his fees, adding that she contacted him earlier to pay the remaining fees, and that the power of attorney issued by her is still valid and has not been canceled yet.
He expressed his surprise at the leaking of the complaint from within the union to social media platforms, describing the incident as inconsistent with the confidentiality of investigations and the traditions of the legal profession, considering that the matter carries suspicion of electoral exploitation in conjunction with the opening of candidacy for the union’s by-elections.
He indicated that he submitted an official complaint to the UAE Embassy, supported by all relevant documents and conversations. He also wrote an official report regarding the incident inside Egypt, and submitted a request to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to take the necessary legal measures.
He explained that all necessary legal measures are currently being taken against the former client in Egypt and the Emirates, including reports related to what he described as defamation, insults and slander, in addition to taking steps to file a lawsuit before the competent courts to estimate the lawsuit fees and legal fees for the cases under the power of attorney, in addition to submitting a report to the Internet Investigations regarding the correspondence and communications under investigation.
In a related context, Mohieddin called on lawyers not to be led by rumours, stressing his confidence that the whole truth will emerge, and that he does not intend to take any measures against colleagues who participated in circulating the circulating information, considering that they were deceived and that other parties created the crisis.
He stressed that such campaigns will not affect his union path, adding that the truth cannot be defeated.
