The competent investigation authorities decided to imprison the accused of impersonating a doctor and running a beauty clinic “without a license” in Cairo.

The Ministry of Interior arrests the accused

The Ministry of Interior announced that, within the framework of combating commercial fraud crimes and prosecuting and arresting those who commit these criminal activities, as well as those who promote them on social media sites.

Information and investigations from the General Administration for Combating Information Technology Crimes in the Communications and Information Technology Systems Sector confirmed that a (criminal element – resident in the Basateen Police Department in Cairo) was practicing a criminal activity specializing in defrauding and defrauding citizens and seizing their money, by misleading them into believing that he was able to invest their savings in the field of drug trade and obtain sums of money from them via electronic payment methods and evading them after that, as well as impersonating a doctor and managing it. An “unlicensed” beauty clinic located in Cairo, and promoting his criminal activity through social media sites.

After codifying the procedures in coordination with the relevant authorities, he was targeted and arrested. He was in possession of (two mobile phones, “which were examined and found to contain evidence confirming his criminal activity” – a large group of medicines and medical preparations of unknown origin – a number of empty containers for packaging medicines – a number of stickers with different brands written on them). When confronted, he confessed to his criminal activity as referred to in order to achieve financial profits, and admitted to using the same method in (10) incidents. In various governorates, legal measures were taken… and coordination with the relevant authorities to close the aforementioned clinic.

Penalty for impersonation

Article No. 155 of the Egyptian Penal Code stipulates that: “Anyone who intervenes in a public position, whether royal or military, without having an official status from the government or its permission to do so, or who performs an act that is necessitated by one of these positions, shall be punished by imprisonment for a period of not less than two years.”

Article No. 156 of the Penal Code also stipulates that: “Anyone who publicly wears an unofficial uniform without holding the rank that entitles him, or who carries in public the distinguishing mark of a job or position without right, shall be punished by imprisonment for a period of not less than two years, without prejudice to any more severe penalty stipulated in another law. The penalty shall be aggravated imprisonment for a period of seven years, if the crime occurred for a terrorist purpose, during a state of war, a declaration of a state of emergency, or participation in a demonstration.”

Article No. 157 of the Penal Code also stipulates that: “Anyone who publicly adopts an education that was not granted to him or who also gives himself a title of honor, a rank, a position, or a general representative capacity without right shall be punished with a fine not exceeding two hundred pounds.”
