Receives Dr. Badr Abdel Ati, Minister External Immigration and Affairs of Egyptians Abroad, today, Sunday, by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Senegal, Cheikh Niang, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters in Cairo.
The meeting comes within the framework of strengthening bilateral relations between Egypt and Senegal, and discussing ways of joint cooperation in regional and international issues of common interest, in addition to discussing files related to coordination within the African Union.
On the African level, Dr. Badr Abdel Ati, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs, received, yesterday, Saturday, Ambassador Michael Imran Kanu, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Sierra Leone to the United Nations in New York, and Chairman of the Ten-African Committee on Security Council Reform.
Egypt confirms its full support for the African position on Security Council reform
According to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during the meeting, the Minister praised the pivotal role played by Sierra Leone in its presidency of the African Committee of Ten, for its efforts to defend the African position stipulated in the Azulwini Consensus and the Sirte Declaration, and to promote it during the governmental negotiations on reform of the United Nations Security Council.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs stressed that reforming the Security Council is necessary to correct the historical injustice occurring on the African continent, stressing the importance of seeking a comprehensive and integrated reform of the Security Council without any division of the elements of the Azulwini Consensus and the Sirte Declaration, as they are the governing framework for the African position.
