In a step aimed at developing the transportation system within Giza Governorate and raising the level of traffic safety, the governorate began implementing the initiative to replace traditional tuk-tuk vehicles with small, modern cars known as “cutes.”

The initiative is not limited to modernizing vehicles, but rather comes within a comprehensive plan to transform the governorate’s streets into a more organized and safer transportation environment for citizens.
The first phase targets 4 main areas
The first phase of the initiative includes neighborhoods and areas selected due to the heavy use of tuk-tuks there, which are:
Al-Haram neighborhood
Agouza neighborhood
6th of October City
October Gardens
This stage aims to replace old vehicles with modern, traceable licensed vehicles, to ensure discipline, transparency and improve the level of service.

Documents required for submission
The governorate has specified a clear list of documents to facilitate the replacement process, including:
National ID card
The criminal status sheet is addressed to the neighborhood
Document for selling a tuk-tuk outside Giza Governorate
An official acknowledgment of the vehicle owner’s desire to replace it
Pledge to fully comply with the rules for operating the replacement vehicle
Initiative conditions and incentives
The governorate confirmed that the initiative is optional and not compulsory, with basic conditions for accepting the application:
The applicant must be born in Giza Governorate and must have a national identification number
Adhere to licensing procedures and operate the new vehicle in accordance with the regulations
The initiative also provides incentives for drivers to abandon the old tuk-tuk and move to a safer and more organized means of transportation.
Facilitated financing and delivery of first payments
Mohamed Marei, Assistant Secretary of the Governorate and the official spokesman for the Governorate, explained that the first batch of replacement cars was delivered to the Haram neighborhood, with an easy installment system provided for those wishing to purchase.
He added that the rest of the districts will begin receiving applications according to an organized timetable to ensure speedy procedures and ease of delivery.
Direct connection between the replacement vehicle and the old tuktuk
Marei stressed that the new car is considered a direct replacement for the old tuk-tuk, and is delivered only after proving that the tuk-tuk is sold outside Giza, to ensure that the number of vehicles on the streets does not increase.
He added that once the tuk-tuk is sold, the citizen can go to the competent company to receive the new car and quickly complete the licensing procedures.
Simplified procedures for serving citizens
The governorate has allocated a simplified administrative path to facilitate all replacement steps, from application to receipt and licensing of the vehicle, ensuring speed of service and improving the quality of transportation and reducing traffic congestion.
The initiative to replace tuk-tuks with “Cut” vehicles is an essential step towards developing the transportation system in Giza, transforming the governorate’s streets into a civilized and safe environment, while enhancing traffic discipline and improving the citizens’ experience within the various cities.
