Tariq Soliman, the former goalkeeper coach at Al-Ahly Club and the Egyptian national team, confirmed that goalkeeper Mustafa Schubert has been performing outstandingly during the recent period, but at the same time he stressed that Mohamed El-Shenawy remains the main goalkeeper and equipped to participate in the upcoming African Cup of Nations.

Suleiman said in television statements with journalist Saif Zaher that Mustafa Schubert succeeded in attracting attention thanks to his good level and discipline in training, but the factor of experience and the number of matches remains the decisive factor in deciding the main goalkeeper position, whether in Al-Ahly or the national team.
He explained, saying: Mustafa Schubert has shined during the last period, but we must not forget that he made several mistakes in previous periods and conceded some goals, and this is normal for a young goalkeeper who is still in the process of construction and development.
Soliman added that determining the readiness of the goalkeepers depends on playing a large number of matches, whether locally or internationally, which gives El-Shenawy the advantage at the present time, as he said: The most equipped to lead the team in the African Championship is Mohamed El-Shenawy, because he participated in more matches, whether with Al-Ahly or with the national team.
He also pointed out that Mustafa Schubert still has a great future, stressing that he will be the goalkeeper of Al-Ahly and the first team for a long time, but he needs more contact and matches in order to reach the highest levels of technical readiness.
He concluded his statements by saying: Mustafa Schubert is training wonderfully and this is to his credit, but he has not won a sufficient number of matches recently, so El-Shenawy is the closest and most equipped to represent Egypt in the African Nations.
