The local unit of the city of Hurghada, Red Sea Governorate, carried out an intensive inspection campaign on (2) tourist facilities in the Shamal neighborhood, to determine the extent of their compliance with technical, health and environmental requirements.

This comes within the framework of the directives of Major General Amr Hanafi, Governor of the Sea RedIn implementation of the instructions of Major General Yasser Hemaya, Head of Hurghada, to enhance the quality of tourism services and ensure that establishments adhere to professional and environmental standards, in a manner befitting Hurghada’s status as a global tourist destination.

The committee made a number of observations, including observations of occupational safety and health, where a number of violations were monitored, most notably the need to provide protective gear for workers and train them on the correct way to use them, and the necessity of preserving electrical wires in a proper manner and placing insulation under electrical panels.

The Environment Department reported the need to maintain containers in a hotel, prepare a special room for storing hazardous waste, and the need to provide and complete environmental approvals and the environmental registry.

For his part, the head of the city stressed the continuation of monitoring campaigns on a regular basis to ensure the provision of tourist services worthy of the city’s visitors, and to preserve Hurghada’s position as one of the most prominent tourist destinations in the world.
