An official source at the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources revealed the details of a new and important contract aimed at meeting the needs of the Egyptian local market for natural gas.

The source confirmed, in exclusive statements to Cairo 24, that next week will witness an official announcement of Egypt’s contract with an Arab country to import shipments of gas, as part of the state’s efforts to ensure the sustainability of energy supplies.
The source explained that this contract comes within a broader strategy adopted by Egypt to diversify sources of gas imports, and not rely on one side.
He added: The state’s strategy requires that there be no pressure from any source that Egypt deals with to import gas, and therefore we are moving towards diversifying supplies to ensure energy security.
