The year 2025 witnessed the addition of 37 cultural sites to the work system in Ministry of Culture After completing its development or establishment in a number of governorates.
The projects that were opened included: the Museum of Modern Art, the development of the Bayram Al-Tunisi Theater, and the construction of the new building for the Academy of Arts branch in Alexandria Governorate, while Cairo Governorate witnessed the opening of the Helwan Culture Palace and the Children’s Culture Palace in Garden City.
In Sohag Governorate, the Akhmim Culture House and the Children’s Culture Palace were opened in Sohag.
The Ministry also paid special attention to North Sinai Governorate by opening 4 sites: Nakhl Culture Palace, Qatiya Culture House in Bir al-Abd Center, Negila Library, and Al-Masa’id Culture House, in confirmation of the state’s keenness to support the cultural infrastructure in the border governorates. The Egyptian Public Library was also opened in the Karnak area in Luxor Governorate, the Hurghada Culture Palace in the Red Sea Governorate, and the Egyptian Public Library in Shebin al-Qanater in Qalyubia Governorate, in a way that enhances the availability of cultural services and expands the base of beneficiaries nationwide.
Within the framework of participation in the presidential project “A Decent Life,” the Ministry was able to open 22 outlets to sell books in the villages most in need within the “Kitabak” project in the governorates of Menoufia, Gharbia, and Qena, in addition to cooperating with the General Authority for Cultural Palaces to open a number of sales outlets inside palaces and houses of culture so that the knowledge product reaches all the people of the country.
Digital infrastructure and initiatives
In the field of digital infrastructure, the Egyptian Ministry of Culture launched 5 digital initiatives and applications, and the Ministry also announced the launch of the trial broadcast of its new website via the link: www.moc.gov.eg. The “Tut” website and application were launched as the first electronic platform specialized in children’s books and magazines affiliated with the Ministry of Culture, to be a new digital window that provides cognitive and creative content directed to children in a modern style. The “Memory of the City” application was also launched as a digital platform specialized in documenting the history of Egyptian cities and their visual and architectural identity. The application relies on specific initiatives aimed at linking the place to its cultural and historical context.
The Ministry of Culture also launched the “Kitab” application, which is a free digital platform that includes a large digital library containing thousands of books in various fields of literature, history, science, and others, with the aim of promoting digital culture, disseminating knowledge, and facilitating access to cultural content via smart devices. This application comes as part of a strategy to integrate traditional cultural content with modern technology.
The Ministry launched the Million Books Initiative to distribute one million books to ministries and institutions concerned with building humanity and spreading awareness, including: the Ministry of Education and Technical Education, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Ministry of Social Solidarity, in addition to Al-Azhar University, the Egyptian Church, and the Journalists Syndicate.
