Major General Dr. Hisham Abu Al-Nasr, Governor, announced AssiutContinuing to receive tourist delegations from inside and outside Egypt to visit religious and archaeological monuments in the governorate, via the regular weekly air route from Almaza Airport in Cairo to Assiut International Airport, as part of an integrated plan aimed at supporting religious tourism, within the framework of a series of achievements achieved by Assiut Governorate within its initiative to support the tourism sector and stimulate investment in the governorates of Upper Egypt, and implement President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s directives to advance the tourism sector and open new investment horizons, in line with Egypt’s vision. 2030.
The governorate received a tourist delegation from schools
The Governor of Assiut explained that the governorate received a tourist delegation from the Egyptian Language Schools in Al-Haram and the Dream International School in Cairo, where prior coordination was made with the leaders of the tourism, public relations and media departments to provide all aspects of support, facilitate visiting procedures, and ensure the provision of the highest level of services to visitors from their arrival until the end of the trip program.
The governor pointed out that the visit program included a number of the most prominent religious shrines in the governorate, as the tour began with a visit to the Monastery of Marmina, suspended in the center of Abnoub, passing by the Monastery of Prince Tadros Al-Shattabi in Mount Manfalut, and concluded with a visit to the Monastery of the Virgin Mary in Drinka, one of the most important stops on the Holy Family’s itinerary in the world. During the tour, the fathers and monks provided comprehensive explanations about the spiritual and historical value of those monasteries, stressing that they represent unique examples of ancient churches that contributed to consolidating the status of Assiut. As a major destination for religious tourism in the Middle East.
Major General Dr. Hisham Abu Al-Nasr confirmed that the members of the delegation expressed great admiration for the trip, praising the good organization and level of services provided, explaining that visiting Assiut represents a distinctive experience that deserves to be repeated because of the spiritual and historical richness it carries.
The Governor of Assiut pointed out that the initiative to operate a regular air route contributed significantly to increasing religious tourism and attracting more visitors, noting that the governorate is working according to an ambitious plan aimed at transforming Assiut into a global destination for those seeking spiritual and historical heritage, based on the unique elements it possesses that qualify it to be a global center for spiritual tourism.
Abu Al-Nasr added that the governorate pays special attention to developing the infrastructure leading to religious sites, in addition to providing an integrated system of logistical services that ensures the comfort of visitors and facilitates travel for tourists and investors, which reflects an advanced civilized image of Assiut and enhances its position as a pioneering model for sustainable development in Upper Egypt.
