The Nothing Phone (4a) Pro comes with a unibody aluminum design instead of a traditional frame with a glass or plastic back, which gives the phone a more premium feel. However, the use of an aluminum back results in the absence of wireless charging support.

The phone underwent a durability test conducted by content creator JerryRigEverything, where the aluminum body showed moderate resistance to scratches, but was able to withstand strong bending attempts without breaking. The absence of glass on the back reduces the possibility of shattering the back when falling.

The screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 7i, which means that it is not exposed to visible scratches except when exposed to hard objects with a rating of 6 or higher on the Mohs scale. However, the testing revealed two clear weaknesses in the phone.

The first is that the transparent cover of the camera module is made of plastic, which makes it easily scratched. The second concerns the presence of a microphone next to the SIM card port, as the microphone hole is large enough to accidentally insert the SIM ejector tool, which may lead to damage to the insulation and loss of water resistance. This could have been avoided by using a metal mesh for protection.

In any case, the phone only has an IP65 rating, which means it is resistant to splashes and light rain, not complete submersion. The test also indicates that the ease of repairing the phone is not at the desired level.
