Sudanese media reported that the head of the Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah The proofHe is preparing to head to Türkiye today, Thursday, at the official invitation of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Diplomatic sources said that the talks between Al-Burhan and Erdogan will address bilateral relations and developments in the conflict in Sudan, in addition to the humanitarian situation and its repercussions on regional stability.

The sources added, according to what was reported by Sudanese media, that Al-Burhan’s visit to Turkey comes as part of a foreign tour that the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council intends to undertake, which will include Qatar and a meeting with Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, with the aim of presenting developments in the field and explaining the path of searching for a settlement.

According to the Sudanese media, Ankara and Doha represent two main stops on Al-Burhan’s foreign tour, at a time when pressure is increasing on the Sudanese parties to stop the war.

Al-Burhan’s visit to Türkiye and Qatar

The files discussed during Al-Burhan’s visit to Turkey and Qatar include political and economic cooperation, in addition to the role that Ankara can play in supporting stability efforts. This comes as confrontations between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Militia are escalating, which raises the level of international interest in the political track.

Foreign Minister Marco Rubio had said earlier that there was a ten-day deadline, of which six days remained, to reach a humanitarian truce at the beginning of next year, in the first time frame set by Washington since the beginning of its direct intervention in the Sudanese file.

The US Secretary of State said that the goal is to stop the fighting before entering the new year, pointing to extensive contacts with Saudi Arabia, the Emirates and Egypt, in coordination with the United Kingdom, to push the parties towards an agreement that allows the expansion of relief operations. He explained that the two parties had violated previous commitments, expressing his concern about reports about targeting humanitarian convoys.
