The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced the list of referees selected to participate in the “Elite Referees” camp on the African continent, which witnessed a remarkable presence of Egyptian arbitration with seven prominent names.

The choices of arena referees included: Amin Omar, Mohamed Maarouf, and Mahmoud Naji, while Mahmoud Abu Al-Rijal and Ahmed Hossam Taha were chosen as assistants, in addition to the duo, Mahmoud Ashour and Hossam Azab Haggag, as video referees (VAR).

The Egyptian capital, Cairo, is scheduled to host this intensive training camp from March 4 to March 8, 2026.

The camp aims to prepare referees physically and technically for the decisive and knockout stages in the major African tournaments, specifically the quarter-final matches, the semi-finals, and the final match of the African Champions League and African Confederation tournaments.

The selection of this large number of Egyptian referees reflects the confidence of the African Union in the quality of Egyptian refereeing and its ability to manage popular and fateful matches on the African continent.
