Britain has announced that the UK immigration system will be completely digital, with traditional visa stickers in passports replaced by electronic visas (eVisa), as of February 25, 2026.

The British Embassy in Cairo explained in a statement that visitors who need a visa to enter the United Kingdom will receive an electronic visa only, without placing a sticker inside the passport.

Go to the visa application center only once to prove their identity

Under the new system, applicants will go to the visa application center only once to prove their identity, and the passport will be returned to them on the same day. After the visa is granted, eVisa holders will be directed to create an account via the UKVI platform to manage their data and track their residency status digitally.

The embassy confirmed that visitors who have valid visas installed in their passports can continue to use them until they expire.
