Ashraf Qassem’s statements
Ashraf Qassem said in statements on MBC Misr 2: I was forced to retire when I was 30 years old.
He added: After winning the 1996 African Championship, my contract with Zamalek had expired, and I learned from the newspapers at the time that my name was not on the list for the new season.
Qasim pointed out that the club’s president at the time was Dr. Kamal Darwish, and the technical director was Farouk Al-Sayed, before the team was coached by Dutch coach Kroll.
He explained: Zamalek at that time decided to replace and renew the team, and the decision was for me to leave the club at this time, even though I was 30 years old, and there were names older than me, such as Ayman Mansour and Hussein Al-Sayed, but this decision was taken.
He concluded by saying: I was a committed player and we gave a lot to Zamalek, but in the end this was the club’s desire.
