Fayoum Governorate has recently witnessed a severe crisis in the shortage of taxis and services heading to Cairo, which has caused a state of anger and dissatisfaction among the people, especially with passengers congesting for long hours inside the main parking lots without clear solutions.

A number confirmed Citizens The crisis has worsened significantly over the past few days, as the journey to Cairo has become a daily struggle, amid the absence of cars at peak times, which forces some to wait for more than two hours, or resort to unlicensed cars at double prices.

Mohamed Abdel Aleem, an employee at a company in Cairo, told Cairo 24: The crisis has begun to directly affect his source of livelihood, explaining: “I leave my house before dawn every day to ensure access to work, and despite that I am often late due to the lack of cars, which exposes me to deductions and penalties.”
Israa Mahmoud, a university student, added that students are the most affected, especially on exam days, stressing that many of her colleagues are thinking about moving to reside in Cairo due to the difficulty of daily transportation.
For their part, some drivers attributed the crisis to the high operating costs of fuel and maintenance, in addition to the tendency of a large number of them to work in smart transportation applications, which provide higher income, which led to a decrease in the number of cars operating on the Fayoum – Cairo line.
Residents pointed out that there is exploitation by some drivers, as fares are raised unofficially, especially during peak times, demanding intensified parking control and setting a clear tariff, in addition to increasing the number of cars to reduce crowding.
Citizens called on the executive authorities in the governorate to quickly intervene to resolve the crisis, through coordination with the traffic and parking departments, and to develop an urgent plan to provide adequate means of transportation, stressing that the continuation of the crisis threatens the interests of thousands of employees and students who depend daily on this vital line.
