Samsung today unveiled its first smart watch running on the Android Wear platform, which is the Samsung Gear Live, joining Motorola and LG as the third company to launch a smart watch running on the new platform. Google announced the Gear Live watch today during the opening session of the I/O 2014 conference.
The Gear Live watch offers a square-shaped screen and a design that is not much different from the previously launched Samsung Gear 2 watch that runs on the Tizen system. The screen measures 1.63 inches and is Super AMOLED. It carries a 300 mAh battery and 4 GB of internal storage space, and is equipped with a heart rate sensor.
The watch will be available for pre-order today at a price of $200 through Amazon, Google Play, and Best Buy, and will reach customers in the United States on July 7.
