The Department of Slaughterhouses and Meat Inspection of the Veterinary Medicine Directorate in Sohagseized 750 kilograms of spoiled female meat, in a massive campaign on the markets of the village of Al-Kawamel in New Sohag today, Wednesday.

This was under the directives of Major General Dr. Abdel Fattah Siraj, Governor of Sohag, and the Minister of Agriculture, Alaa Farouk, and under the supervision of Dr. Ahmed Hamdy, Director General of the Veterinary Medicine Directorate in Sohag.

750 kilograms of rotten meat were seized in a large veterinary campaign in Sohag markets

The campaign came within the efforts of the Veterinary Medicine Directorate to control markets and combat the trade in meat that is not fit for human consumption. The campaign was implemented under the supervision of Dr. Walid Mahmoud, Acting Director of the Department of Slaughterhouses and Meat Inspection, and with the participation of a team of veterinarians in the department, in addition to the Environmental and Landscape Police Department.

During the campaign, 750 kilograms of rotten meat was seized, which had been slaughtered in a diseased state unfit for human consumption. It was found in illegal markets outside government slaughterhouses, and it was found that the meat was in a state of tissue damage, proving that it was unfit for human consumption.

It is noteworthy that the campaign was led by Dr. Walid Mahmoud, acting director of the slaughterhouses administration, and he was accompanied on the tour by Dr. Raymond Fayez, a doctor in the slaughterhouses administration, and Dr. Ali Farraj, another doctor in the same administration.

This campaign comes within the framework of the Veterinary Medicine Directorate’s keenness to ensure the safety and health of citizens, and to firmly confront anyone who tries to tamper with the health of citizens by selling spoiled meat that is unfit for consumption.

The spoiled meat was seized and all necessary measures were taken to preserve the seized items. A report on the incident was also prepared to complete investigations and take legal measures against violators.
