Google has announced the expansion of AirDrop support via Quick Share to include more Pixel smartphones. The feature, which was previously exclusive to Pixel 10 phones, will soon make its way to older models as well. Unfortunately, Google decided to limit this function to flagship phones only.

Google has introduced AirDrop support within Quick Share for more Pixel smartphones. As a reminder, the company first introduced this functionality in November. However, this only applied to the Pixel 10 series, including the Pixel 10 Pro Fold (currently priced at $1,749.99 on Amazon).

Now, Google has confirmed that it will bring the same functionality to older flagship Pixel 9 phones. Specifically, the company decided to provide AirDrop compatibility on the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold. AirDrop support is supposed to work just like it does on the Pixel 10 series.

Also, the new feature will not be available immediately. Instead, Google plans to provide support “over the coming weeks in phases.” Unfortunately, Google did not provide any specific details in this regard. For some reason, the company excluded the Pixel 9a. Likewise, the company did not clarify whether older Pixel devices powered by Tensor processors will get similar support anytime soon.
