Google launched the Android 16 system for Pixel phones in June of last year, and with more than seven months having passed since that launch, other Android companies gradually began providing the update to their devices. With this expansion, many are wondering about the extent of the spread of the new version so far.

In this context, Google has officially updated the distribution chart for Android versions, noting that the data displayed dates back to December 1, 2025, which means that the actual current percentage may be slightly higher at the present time.

According to official figures, Android 16 is currently running on about 7.5% of the total active Android devices. Although this percentage seems low compared to the speed of adoption of iOS updates, the difference in the nature of the two systems remains an important factor. The Android system is characterized by being an open environment that includes dozens of companies and hundreds of different models, which makes the process of deploying updates more complex and slow in nature.

On the other hand, Android 15 tops the list of the most popular versions with a rate of 19.3%, followed by Android 14 with a rate of 17.2%, then Android 13 with a rate of 13.9%. In contrast, Android 16 currently ranks seventh, after Android 11, Android 12, and Android 10.

As updates continue to be rolled out to more devices over the coming months, the share of Android 16 is expected to gradually rise and its numbers improve in upcoming distribution statistics.
