Dr. Yasser Al-Hudaibi, Secretary General of the Wafd Party, said that he is considering running in the party’s elections, as the General Assembly will be called for elections for the presidency of the Wafd Party, on January 30.
The General Assembly of the Wafd Party precedes the opening of nominations on Saturday, the 3rd of the same month, and will close after 6 days of the same month, at a time when the Wafdist arena is witnessing a struggle between 3 main fronts, each of which has different accounts and alliances.
Al-Hudaibi explained to Cairo 24: There are some requirements that must be met by the new head of the party, saying: Restoring respect and appreciation for the party in the Egyptian street, in addition to setting a clear political line for the party, and reforming and restructuring all of the party, including the party committees in all governorates.
Earlier, Dr. Abdul-Sanad Yamamah, Chairman Wafd PartyHe succeeded in the elections and assumed the presidency of the party on March 13, four years ago, indicating that the elections for the new term will be held within 60 days before the end of the current term.
Elections for the presidency of the Wafd Party
Yamama explained to Cairo 24 that he will call for elections for the presidency of the Wafd Party at the beginning of next January, pointing out that he may run again, but he will review his decision according to the potential candidates, saying: I will look at the candidates, and if I find someone who can bear the responsibility, I will support him, but if I do not find one, I may run again.
In response to the criticism directed at him during his presidency, the party leader said: Whoever criticizes is someone who works, and whoever does not criticize is someone who is static and does not move, and the result of movement finds those who accept it and those who criticize it.
Abdul-Sanad Yamamah pointed out that the party’s deposits and assets were not touched throughout his presidency, stressing that he did not issue any serious appointment decisions.He added that the employees’ salaries were not late for a single day, adding that the end-of-service bonus, which had not been paid since the era of Dr. Sayed Al-Badawi and even Counselor Bahaa Abu Shaqa, was paid.For the first time during his reign.
