Many people sometimes ignore calls, often assuming they are not important, although this behavior can result in missing urgent and important calls. To reduce these risks, Google has begun introducing a new feature aimed at highlighting urgent calls.
The feature is called Expressive Calling, and it’s a new function in the Phone by Google app that allows callers to mark a call as urgent when they call. Then, the recipient sees a message that says “It’s urgent!” With red siren icon. This feature is currently being gradually rolled out in the beta version of the app.
When enabled, urgent calls can bypass Do Not Disturb mode or at least be flagged, depending on user settings. The wheel tag also remains visible in the call log for missed calls. However, both the caller and the recipient must use the trial version and activate the feature to take advantage of it.
Initial reports about Expressive Calling came from sources like Android Police, while Google has yet to make an official announcement. Community feedback has been mixed, with some users welcoming the idea, while others express concerns about potential misuse.
