According to a well-known analyst, Apple’s upcoming MacBook Pro will feature a revamped user interface that will adapt depending on whether the user prefers touch or mouse input. Dynamic Island will also make its way to Mac devices, along with a thinner design and 2nm systems-on-chip.
It’s an open secret that Apple is gearing up for a revamped MacBook Pro lineup later this year, likely around October if the company sticks to tradition. Thanks to a host of leakers, we have a pretty good idea of what to expect from Apple’s next-generation MacBook Pro family.
First off, we know that the MacBook Pro lineup will feature a major design refresh, newer systems on the chip than the M6 era, and an OLED display. Furthermore, according to a recent report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, this will be Apple’s first-ever foray into the touchscreen laptop area.

Apple’s implementation will be very unique, which is to be expected from a company obsessed with software design, for better or worse. According to Mark, touch-enabled MacBooks will feature specialized user interfaces, allowing unique menu options to appear when the user touches a specific button or element on the screen. Mac OS will also learn user behavior and suggest menu items accordingly.
Of course, the typical touch inputs like scrolling and zooming will be there, but Macs will largely continue to improve for point-and-click interactions as well, in other words, the familiar duo of keyboard and trackpad isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. Unlike the iPad Pro, which is currently available for $1,100 on Amazon, the MacBook Pro will not be marketed as touch-first devices.
As previously rumored, the Dynamic Island feature will also make its way to Mac devices four years after it arrived on the iPhone, just as the notch arrived on Mac devices four years after it arrived on the iPhone. There will be no face unlock feature, however, only the single camera module will be placed inside the Dynamic Island.
So far, we don’t have any precise leaks explaining what the redesigned MacBook Pro family will look like, and exactly how thin Apple intends to make it.
Given the efficiency leaps that Apple’s silicon chips have made in recent years, it seems very likely that the company will finally be able to produce a sleek MacBook Pro without facing severe thermal and performance limitations.
