
The doctor testified Mustafa MadboulyPrime Minister, the launch of the activities of the conference “Investing religious and media discourse and its impact on protecting and promoting women’s rights in the countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation,” which extends over two days at the Al-Azhar Al-Sharif Conference Center, and is jointly organized by Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, the National Council for Women, and the Women’s Development Organization (WDO).
The events witnessed a high-level official presence, where engineer Shaima Al-Siddiq participated. Deputy Governor of Damiettawithin a group of ministers, governors, and senior officials from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation countries, and representatives of legislative bodies and international organizations, which reflects the interest of local leaders in pursuing national strategies aimed at empowering women and enhancing their societal role through enlightened religious and media discourse.
Upon his arrival, the Prime Minister was received by His Eminence the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Sheikh of Al-Azhar, and Counselor Amal Ammar, President of the National Council for Women. The ceremony began with a group photo taken, followed by the Prime Minister’s inspection of the National Council for Women’s exhibition, which showcased heritage and craft products for the “Noura and Nour” program and female entrepreneurs. Madbouly praised the quality of the exhibits that embody the skill of the Egyptian woman. He also inspected Al-Azhar’s pavilion and the scientific publications it contains. And religious value.
The conference is held in implementation of the decisions of the eighth session of the Ministerial Conference of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation for Women, which Egypt chaired, with the aim of building a comprehensive approach that utilizes media and religious tools to dismantle anti-women stereotypes, confront hate speech, and build community awareness that takes into account the principles of equality and protection.
The opening session included the screening of a documentary film entitled “The Word Divides,” and was followed by important speeches by the Executive Director of the Women’s Development Organization, the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the President of the National Council for Women, in addition to a recorded speech by His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, and concluded with a speech by His Eminence the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, amid an emphasis that the integration of religious and media discourse is the basic foundation for protecting women’s rights in light of the contemporary transformations taking place in the Islamic world.
