Customs officers at Assiut Airport Customs, led by Zein El-Abidin Ahmed Fouad, chief researcher and director of the Inspection Department, Walid Hosni, were able to thwart an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of cosmetics.

Thwarting the smuggling of 600 packages of cosmetics

The incident began during the completion of inspection procedures for passengers arriving on an Air Arabia flight coming from Sharjah, where the head of the Passenger Inspection Department, Ahmed Shaddad Rateb, suspected an Egyptian passenger as he was leaving the customs committee gate, and when the passenger’s bags were passed through the X-ray screening device, the suspicion was confirmed.

Assiut Customs Director, Zein El-Abidin Ahmed Fouad, decided to assign a team to search the passenger’s bags. About 600 packages of cosmetics were found inside them. The value of the compensation due for this quantity amounted to 650,320 pounds.

Based on this violation, Mustafa Abdel Fattah, Acting Director General of Luxor Customs and Branches, decided to take the necessary legal measures and write a customs seizure report No. 3 of 2025.

This measure comes in implementation of the instructions of the head of the Customs Authority, Ahmed Amwi, and his deputy, Sami Ramadan, to tighten control over the ports and thwart all attempts at customs evasion.
