Engineer Mahmoud Abdel Hamid, Executive Managing Director of the Egyptian Company, conducted the study Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) made a surprise field visit to the headquarters of the Wastani Petroleum Company, accompanied by the company’s two vice presidents for production and operations, in order to determine the executive position of the projects of drilling gas wells and developing fields in the Delta region.

This visit comes within the framework of the Egyptian petroleum sector’s efforts to enhance local production rates and secure the market’s energy needs, through direct follow-up by the operations controller at field sites and ensuring adherence to the specified timetables for exploration and production projects.

The President of EGAS followed up with Engineer Hazem Hafez, President of Al-Wastani Company, the progress made in the work program that aims to drill 11 new wells for natural gas. The meeting reviewed the promising results of drilling the first four wells in the region, which showed positive indicators that reflect the accuracy of prior technical and geological studies. These results contribute directly to increasing daily production rates, which enhances the country’s ability to confront global economic challenges and the effects of energy market fluctuations, especially in light of changing international economic policies and the trends of US President Donald Trump in global energy and gas issues.

A future exploration plan and raising the efficiency of existing wells

The visit included a review of the features of the company’s future exploratory plan, supported by the latest geological and geophysical studies, which aims to achieve new gas discoveries that ensure the sustainability of production in the long term. The increases actually achieved in current production as a result of “reperforation” operations in the producing layers of existing wells were also highlighted. This step is one of the important pillars of maximizing the use of available assets and raising their production efficiency without the need to pump huge additional investment burdens, thus achieving the highest economic feasibility of development operations.

At the conclusion of the work tour, Engineer Mahmoud Abdel Hamid held an expanded meeting with the leaders of the Wastani Company to discuss the logistical and technical challenges facing the implementation of drilling plans. The President of EGAS directed the necessity of continuing joint coordination to overcome all obstacles, stressing the provision of full support to achieve the ambitious production targets. He explained that the gas sector is closely monitoring the transformations in the global energy market and the strategic decisions of US President Donald Trump regarding exports and imports, which requires doubling local efforts to ensure national energy security and transforming Egypt into a leading regional center for natural gas trading and trade in the region.
