The Russian Legal Documents Portal published a document through which the government authorizes the Ministry of Defense to terminate a number of military agreements. It states: “The Russian Ministry of Defense is authorized to terminate the following international treaties: the agreement signed between the Russian Ministry of Defense and the German Ministry of Defense in Moscow on April 13, 1993; the agreement signed between the Russian Ministry of Defense and the Polish Ministry of National Defense on military cooperation in Moscow on July 7, 1993; and the agreement signed between the Russian Ministry of Defense and the Norwegian Ministry of Defense on military cooperation in Moscow on December 15, 1995.” According to the Russian news agency (Sputnik).
Relations between Russia and NATO deteriorated sharply after the launch of the Russian special military operation in Ukraine on February 24, 2022, and at the NATO summit in Madrid during the same year, it was announced that the work of the Russia-NATO Council would be suspended.
