The Ministry of Transport continues to implement the railway project linking North and South Sinai from Bir al-Abd To Al-Arish, as part of the state’s plan to connect Sinai to the national transportation network, as it plans to complete the implementation of the first phase of the project with a length of 83 kilometers during the next year 2027, according to an informed source.

The source revealed to Cairo 24 that the construction work of the project has witnessed remarkable progress, especially in the implementation of the earthen bridge for the line, which is being implemented by 10 national Egyptian companies, in addition to the continuation of work on establishing the project stations, which reflects the acceleration of the pace of implementation according to the specified timetables.

He explained that the project includes the construction of 7 main stations that serve a number of residential communities and vital areas, and include stations: Sadat, Al-Tulul, Al-Rawda Martyrs, the Salt Factory, Al-Masa’id, downtown Al-Arish, and Al-Arish Airport, where These stations contribute to serving the surrounding villages and communities, in addition to vital facilities such as the salt factory, Sinai University, and Al-Arish International Airport.

The source added that the Ministry of Transport is continuously monitoring the executive position of the remaining stages of the project, which includes completing the line from Al-Arish to Al-Hasna, with a length of 85 kilometers, and from Al-Hasana to Taba, with a length of 173 kilometers, within the framework of an integrated plan to extend railway lines across the Sinai Peninsula.

He stressed the importance of adhering to the targeted implementation rates, continuing work around the clock, and following the highest quality standards in executing the work, in addition to submitting periodic reports that include completion rates, work progress in various sectors, lists of quantities, and the position of the project’s time plan.

The project is considered one of the strategic axes for the development of Sinai, as it contributes to supporting the movement of transport and goods, enhancing investment opportunities, and achieving development integration between the peninsula and the rest of the republic.
