The Deputy Minister of Health surprises the 6th of October Central Hospital with an evening visit…and refers those who were negligent for investigation
The visit aimed to review work discipline during evening shifts, in accordance with the “real-time follow-up” methodology adopted by the Ministry to raise the efficiency of the health system and ensure the quality of medical services.
Dr. Amr Qandil inspected the reception and emergency departments, where he noticed the absence of the duty director and some doctors from their workplaces, so he decided to immediately refer them for investigation. He also observed a nursing shortage, and directed the redistribution of the nursing team in proportion to the frequency of patients.
The Deputy Minister continued his tour by inspecting the laboratory, where he praised the regularity of work and the availability of reagents and chemicals, while deficiencies were found in the technical supervision of the blood bank, so he referred the department head for investigation. He directed that financial penalties be imposed on the cleaning company for its negligence in the radiology department.
He continued his inspection of the internal medicine, orthopedics, operations and women’s departments, where he warned the head of the women’s department for his negligence in supervision, and directed that immediate measures be taken in the intensive care department to rotate beds and accommodate new cases. He also ordered an increase in the number of the medical team at Al-Aqar Center to ensure a rapid response to patients.
Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, stressed that surprise field tours are an essential oversight tool for establishing the principles of transparency, governance and accountability within all health facilities, stressing the Ministry’s permanent commitment to developing performance and improving the quality of services provided to citizens.
