The Ministry of Health and Population, represented by the Free Treatment Department, is awaiting the investigations of the General Syndicate of Physicians into Dr. Diaa Al-Awadi, to take the necessary legal and regulatory measures regarding the violations attributed to him, an official source at the Ministry of Health told Cairo 24.

Health awaits the results of the Medical Syndicate’s investigations into Dr. Diaa Al-Awadhi

The General Syndicate of Physicians explained, in an official statement, that the decision to refer Dr. Diaa Al-Awadhi for investigation came after he published medical content that included information that violated the scientific rules approved internationally and locally, in addition to directing medical instructions to patients in violation of the correct medical foundations, which may result in serious harm that threatens the safety of patients and violates the principles of safe medical practice.

For his part, the source confirmed that the results of the union’s ethics committee will have a direct role in determining the regulatory and legal measures that the Ministry of Health will take, pointing to the ministry’s ongoing follow-up of the progress of the investigations.

The General Syndicate of Doctors Council had previously decided to address the Ministry’s Free Treatment Department and the Supreme Council for Media Regulation to take the necessary measures against Dr. Diaa Al-Awadi, according to a statement by Dr. Khaled Amin, Assistant Secretary-General of the Syndicate, to Cairo 24.

Dr. Khaled Amin indicated that the communication came because of the medical program presented by Dr. Diaa Al-Awadhi on one of the satellite channels, because it contains content that violates scientific principles, and expresses medical opinions outside the scope of his specialty, stressing that the union will continue to protect the profession and the health of citizens, and to confront any media or medical practices that may publish inaccurate or misleading information in violation of professional ethics and approved scientific standards.
