Today, the activities of the Port Said International Competition for Memorization of the Holy Qur’an and Religious Supplication will begin in its ninth session, with the participation of 42 contestants from the Book of God and singers, representing 30 countries from various continents of the world. The current edition bears the name of the late reciter Sheikh Mahmoud Ali Al-Banna, in appreciation of his immortal path in serving the Holy Qur’an.
Quran and supplications in the activities of the Port Said International Competition
The events witness the contestants performing Friday prayers at Al Salam Mosque in Port Said Governorate, before presenting various sections of Holy Qur’an recitation, supplications, and religious chanting in a number of squares and streets of the governorate, in a distinctive faith atmosphere that reflects the spiritual character of the competition and its message.
The official opening ceremony will be held at 6 p.m., in the presence of the Minister of Endowments, Major General Moheb Habashi, Governor of Port Said, the leaders of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, and a number of senior officials, with the events broadcast on Egyptian television, where the competition is organized under the patronage of Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, under the supervision of Dr. Amr Othman, Deputy Governor, and under the executive management of the journalist Adel Al-Moselhi.
The competition competitions will continue until next February 2, and the participants will compete in the branches of memorization, recitation, and supplication, amid extensive preparations and full support from Port Said Governorate, ensuring that the event emerges in an image worthy of Egypt’s status and leadership in caring for people of the Holy Qur’an at the international level.
