Mustafa Abu Zahra, a member of the Football Association, said that the Board of Directors decided to assign the position of technical director of the Football Association to a foreign coach during the coming period, within the framework of a comprehensive development plan for the football system in Egypt, and that the Federation is currently choosing between two European training schools, stressing that the primary goal is to bring in modern scientific expertise and apply it within Egyptian football.

Statements of Mustafa Abu Zahra, member of the Football Association

A member of the Football Association explained during television statements that the technical director will be from the Portuguese or German school, noting that the name proposed is one of the big and well-known names in the field, and he has previously worked in similar positions.

Abu Zahra added that Portuguese Carlos Queiroz is completely outside the Federation’s accounts, stressing that he does not accept to work as technical director of the Football Association, and therefore it was not on the table in the first place.

The member of the Football Association pointed out that the nominated German name had previously worked within the German Football Association, as well as with the German national team and a number of other federations, which gives him extensive experience that qualifies him to lead the technical project for Egyptian football during the next stage, explaining that the Portuguese name proposed also attains the same degree of kinship.

Mustafa Abu Zahra also confirmed his complete rejection of the statements of Gabriel Rajoub, President of the Palestinian Football Association, against international referee Amin Omar, considering that they carried an unjustified insult to one of the most prominent football referees in the Arab world.

Abu Zahra said that Jibril Rajoub made a mistake against referee Amin Omar, stressing that the latter is considered one of the most important referees in the Arab world, and had previously received the highest refereeing rating during the Arab Cup Championship.

He explained that the Egyptian Football Association moved from the first moment to deal with the crisis, through Hani Abu Raida, a member of the Arab Football Association, stressing that the Arab Football Association issued an official statement clearly condemning Rajoub’s statements.

Abu Zahra added that the Egyptian Football Association will not delay in supporting any element of the game inside Egypt, pointing out that the relationship between Egypt and Palestine is a historical relationship that does not accept compromise, and that Jibril Rajoub’s statements represent an individual point of view that does not express the general position.

He pointed out that Hani Abu Rida expressed his shock at these statements, stressing that the Football Association is sending a clear message of support to referee Amin Omar, saying: We are proud of you as a respected referee who is above suspicion, and the Football Association stands behind you and supports you with all its strength, and we always wish you success.

The Football Association member concluded his statements by emphasizing that Egyptian football is proud to have a referee of the caliber of Amin Omar, due to his competence, integrity, and honorable representation of Egyptian arbitration at the Arab and international levels.
