Silver prices in Egypt witnessed remarkable stability during Monday’s trading, coinciding with… Weekly closing of global stock exchangesThis came after a week of sharp fluctuations.
Silver prices
The price of a gram of 999 silver recorded about 137 pounds, affected by a previous decline of 13 pounds, while the ounce stabilized globally at $78 after a fluctuating journey during which it touched the level of $80 before being exposed to selling pressure and intense profit-taking.
The prices of other bullets in the local market reached 127 pounds for the 925 karat, and 110 pounds for the 800 karat, while the silver pound recorded 1016 pounds.
This local stability reflects the global trend of the ouguiya and the effects of the dollar exchange rate, as traders await a return International trading To determine the direction of the white metal, which witnessed its third consecutive weekly loss as a result of strong American economic data.
Dollar pressure and liquidation of positions push silver to decline
Silver was subjected globally to strong selling pressure, which led to a decline of more than 11% in one session to reach $76.60, before it stabilized relatively.
This decline was driven by the rise of the US dollar following strong jobs data that reinforced expectations of a continuation of the tight monetary policy, in addition to investors resorting to liquidating their positions in precious metals to cover margin losses resulting from a wave of selling in technology and artificial intelligence sector stocks.
The current decline reflects a broad corrective movement, as silver declined by about 20% from the highest peak it reached recently, after a major price boom of 47% during last January. The increase in margin requirements in global stock exchanges contributed to accelerating the pace of decline, putting the white metal under double technical and commercial pressure, with investors closely monitoring the upcoming support and resistance levels at the beginning of the new week’s trading.
