Signed by Prof. Dr. Nazir Muhammad Ayyad – Mufti of the Republic, Head of the General Secretariat of Fatwa Houses and Bodies in the World – today, Thursday, a memorandum of understanding with Dr. Maya Morsi, Minister of Social Solidarity, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Cairo.

This cooperation comes within the framework of strengthening community solidarity tools within the policies of the Egyptian state, and an effective contribution to confronting humanitarian challenges and addressing pressing societal issues.

The Mufti of the Republic affirmed the Egyptian Fatwa House’s commitment to supporting constructive community initiatives, especially in light of the intellectual and moral challenges facing society that require everyone to come together to consolidate the values ​​of moderation and responsibility. He pointed to the role of the House, which has evolved to go beyond the traditional fatwa towards comprehensive awareness and human building, declaring the House’s full readiness to partner with the Ministry of Social Solidarity and other ministries to launch projects aimed at building human beings and protecting architecture.

For her part, the Minister of Social Solidarity, Dr. Maya Morsi, expressed her deep appreciation for the Egyptian Fatwa House, noting that it plays an important role in correcting misconceptions, stressing that cooperation with the Fatwa House comes within the framework of the state’s vision to enhance community solidarity and protect the most vulnerable groups, noting that this cooperation reflects a shared belief in the importance of integrating roles between religious and social institutions, which contributes to achieving societal stability.

The memorandum of understanding stipulates a number of areas of cooperation, the most prominent of which are: Dar Al-Iftaa’s issuance of legal fatwas regarding directing religious worship funds to development projects, in coordination with the Ministry of Social Solidarity, empowering poor families through small and micro projects that provide job opportunities and income-generating capital, and launching vocational training and rehabilitation programs for youth. With the aim of integrating them into the labor market, providing technical and vocational skills that help them produce, and supporting food banks and charitable feeding initiatives in cooperation with local authorities; To expand relief networks and meet the food needs of those in need on a regular basis.

This comes in addition to developing development endowment and social investment models to achieve sustainability of resources, recycling returns for the benefit of groups most in need of care, organizing sponsorship for orphans as one of the basic pillars of the social protection system, creating a thesaurus for development fatwas, and providing the necessary capabilities for their joint work. To be an effective link between Islamic jurisprudence, legal fatwas, and development plans.
