
Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, witnessed Siemens’ celebration of 125 years of cooperation, innovation and partnerships with Egypt.
The celebration was attended by Engineer Kamel El-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Dr. Mahmoud Esmat, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Engineer Mohamed Shimi, Minister of Public Business Sector, Ambassador Jürgen Schulz, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Arab Republic of Egypt, Steffen Roenhoff, German Parliamentary State Minister, Dr. Roland Busch, Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of Siemens AG, and a number of senior officials from the two Egyptian governments. The organization of this event comes within the framework of the company’s long-term partnership, which extends for more than 125 years. It has implemented many national projects, the most prominent of which is the project to establish giant power stations that the company established with a total generating capacity for the national electricity network in Egypt, adding 14.4 gigawatts. It is also implementing the first of its kind high-speed electric train network with a length of 2,000 kilometers, linking major Egyptian cities, within a national project that embodies the latest concepts and technologies of smart and sustainable mobility. This has contributed to supporting and enhancing operations. Operational capabilities of the industrial sector, modernizing the transportation system, and integrating digital capabilities on an ongoing basis.
It is worth noting that Siemens operates in Egypt through three specialized companies: “Siemens”, which leads innovation initiatives in the areas of providing electric power supplies, automation and digital transformation, “Siemens Mobility”, which focuses on providing smart mobility solutions, including establishing the high-speed electric train project and modernizing the current infrastructure of the railway network, and “Siemens Digital Industries Software”. The company is considered an innovation center in Egypt, and provides electronic design solutions and digital transformation solutions.
