Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, followed up on the efforts of the Council’s Supreme Medical and Distress Committee, which took place throughout January of this year, through a report prepared by Dr. Hossam Al-Masry, Medical Advisor to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, and Chairman of the Committee.

The Prime Minister praised the efforts of the Supreme Medical and Distress Committee, which come in light of its clear keenness to monitor medical distress and urgent intervention in critical cases, directing the continuation of strengthening the role of the committee in providing various health services to citizens in different governorates, and continuing to pay attention to cases that require urgent intervention.

Dr. Hossam Al-Masry explained, through the report, that the committee was keen during the month to respond quickly to citizens according to the circumstances of each case. Its efforts included monitoring and responding to 1,268 distress calls through the WhatsApp application, the media and various social networking sites, and these distress calls were dealt with optimally.

The head of the Supreme Medical Committee added that effective dealing with the various distress calls that were monitored included the issuance of 232 treatment decisions at state expense by the Prime Minister. The committee also worked, during the month, to provide medical procedures for 79 cases of gamma knife treatment, in addition to issuing 39 decisions regarding hemi-compatibility marrow transplants.

Dr. Hossam Al-Masry also noted that 39 emergency decisions had been issued by the Prime Minister, in addition to the provision of medicines, with a total of 124 distress calls monitored and dealt with throughout the month of January.

The head of the committee stated that the efforts of the Supreme Medical and Distress Committee to provide medical care included installing artificial limbs and prosthetic devices for 75 cases, while qualifying them for use during January, in addition to conducting examinations on 3,105 citizens within the committee’s convoys in the New Valley Governorate, in cooperation and coordination with the Egyptian Shifa Bank Foundation.
