A recent report from VideoCardz revealed that Intel’s upcoming Core Ultra 9 290K Plus processor, from the Core Ultra 200S Plus category, is no longer expected to see the light, despite the many leaks and test results that appeared previously.
However, this cannot be considered an official cancellation, as the product was never officially announced in the first place. The company was seriously considering launching it, as evidenced by the distribution of trial units to its partners, but in the end it retracted its decision.
The reason for this decision, according to VideoCardz, is due to significant overlap in the upcoming Core Ultra 200K Plus processor lineup. It is expected that the Core Ultra 7 270K Plus will come with specifications similar to the 285K and Core Ultra 9 290K Plus processors, especially with 24 cores, which prompted Intel to avoid duplication of products in the market.

However, the leaks indicated that the Core Ultra 9 290K Plus will carry a thermal speed increase of 100 MHz, giving it 10% higher performance in the leaked tests, which is a significant increase for high-performance enthusiasts.
Despite this decline, gaming enthusiasts who turn to Intel processors are still looking forward to the Nova Lake gaming processors that are expected to be released later this year.
