Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, inspected the 6th of October Central Hospital in a surprise visit, as part of his field tours to follow up on the progress of work, determine the quality of medical services provided to patients, and monitor any shortcomings.

The minister began his tour by inspecting the ticket office, where he listened to patients’ opinions and solved their problems. Then he inspected the intensive care unit and reviewed the case book, in addition to the pharmacy, stores, cardiac emergency room (CPR), and men’s observation room.

Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar expressed his dissatisfaction with the general level of the hospital, directing it to raise its efficiency and complete development work in all departments to ensure the provision of distinguished medical services.

The Minister listened to a detailed report on the hospital’s conditions, which included the work system, the services provided, the capacity and the status of the various departments, in addition to the availability of medical and nursing staff and the level of technical and administrative readiness, with the aim of improving the quality of health care for citizens.

Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, in coordination with the Ministry of Housing, directed the immediate commencement of the construction of the new 6th of October Central Hospital on the land belonging to the current hospital, due to the high rates of demand for services, which contributes to improving medical care and relieving pressure on existing facilities, while adhering to the approved standards to strengthen the health system and meet the needs of citizens.

The Deputy Prime Minister also listened to the developments of the hospital’s integrated dialysis center project, which is being built on three floors and includes 23 dialysis machines, in preparation for its opening soon, to enhance the services provided to patients with kidney failure, increase absorptive capacity, and reduce the burden on patients.
