Dr. Tariq Al-Houbi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Food Safety Authority, received Ambassador Dr. Axel and Pinehurst, Australian Ambassador to Egypt, at the Authority’s headquarters, within the framework of the Authority’s keenness to enhance international cooperation and exchange experiences in the field Food safety.
The meeting discussed ways to enhance joint cooperation in the fields of food safety and food control, in addition to exchanging technical expertise and capacity building, which contributes to supporting the food safety system in Egypt and raising the quality and safety of food products in accordance with best international practices and standards.
Dr. Tariq Al-Houbi stressed the Authority’s keenness to benefit from leading international experiences, most notably the Australian experience in food safety and risk management systems, in a way that enhances consumer health protection and supports the competitiveness of Egyptian food exports in regional and international markets.

He pointed out the importance of training Authority inspectors on inspection of products of animal origin in Australia, given Australia’s accumulated experience in the field of livestock and animal product safety management, which contributes to raising the efficiency of inspection and achieving the highest standards of quality and safety.
For his part, Australian Ambassador Dr. Axel and Pinehurst expressed his appreciation for the vital role played by the authority, stressing his country’s interest in expanding areas of cooperation with Egypt in the framework of supporting food safety and sustainable development and strengthening institutional partnerships between the two sides.
At the conclusion of the meeting, it was emphasized that coordination and communication will continue to study future cooperation opportunities, in a way that serves common interests and strengthens the food safety system.
