Dr. Mohamed Hani Ghoneim, Governor of Beni Suef, held an expanded meeting with members of the House of Representatives and the Senate, in the first official meeting following their victory in the recent parliamentary elections, in the presence of Bilal Habash, Deputy Governor, and Major General Hazem Ezzat, Secretary-General of the Governorate.
The meeting witnessed the presence of a number of members of the House of Representatives, namely: MP Hossam Al-Omda, MP Muhammad Sayed Junaidi, MP Abdul Hakim Masoud, MP Muhammad Rajab, MP Abdullah Ali Mabrouk, MP Taha Muhammad Al-Nazer, MP Hisham Selim, MP Mona Abdullah, MP Youssef Shaaban, MP Ahmed Ibrahim Al-Junaidi, MP Muhammad Farouk Youssef, MP Sayed Muhammad Al-Jazzar, MP Ahmed Shukri, MP Heba Abdel Azim, MP Noha Al-Azhari, MP Aya Ahmed Al-Fayoumi, along with Members of the Senate, Representative Hisham Magdy, and Representative Hassan Jaafar.
The governor began the meeting by congratulating the members of Parliament for the confidence of the citizens and their victory in the legislative elections that took place during the months of August and November 2025. He also thanked the members of Parliament in the previous session for the efforts they made to serve the citizens, wishing success to the new and continuing representatives in performing their legislative and oversight role in a way that achieves the aspirations of the people of the governorate.
The governor stressed that the development process in Beni Suef since 2019 was based on a clear vision consistent with Egypt’s Vision 2030, which was based on three main axes, the first of which is improving the quality of life of citizens through expanding the implementation of service and infrastructure projects and presidential initiatives, most notably the “Decent Life” initiative, which contributed to creating a qualitative shift in the level of services provided in villages and cities.
The governor pointed out that the second axis is achieving economic development by launching the first local development strategy in Egypt, which focused on the sectors of transportation, logistics, industry, agriculture, tourism, small projects, and communications, which contributed to attracting investments, providing job opportunities, and strengthening the local economy.
He added that the third axis is related to governance and administrative reform through developing the administrative apparatus, digital transformation, qualifying human cadres, and strengthening partnership with civil society, ensuring the provision of more efficient and transparent services to citizens.
The governor stressed the importance of working as a team between the executive branch and members of Parliament, stressing that the relationship between the two parties is based on integration and coordination to meet the needs of citizens away from partisan and political differences, while appreciating the legislative and oversight role of representatives as the voice of the street and the expression of citizens’ aspirations.
During the meeting, the governor revealed the features of the proposed communication and coordination mechanisms between the executive agencies and representatives during the next stage, in a way that supports the implementation of comprehensive development plans and enhances the level of services in various sectors.
The governor opened the door for dialogue for the representatives to present their visions and proposals regarding joint work mechanisms, where MP Hossam Al-Omda stressed the importance of continuing cooperation and working in the spirit of one team to achieve the public interest, while MP Hisham Magdy expressed his appreciation for the governor’s invitation, stressing the support of the executive authority to achieve citizens’ demands.
Representative Hisham Selim proposed holding a monthly meeting that includes the governor, representatives, and executives to discuss citizens’ problems, a proposal that the governor welcomed, stressing the need to focus each meeting on a specific sector to discuss challenges and reach practical solutions.
Representative Muhammad Junaidi praised the cooperation mechanism between the governorate and the representatives, which contributed to achieving tangible progress in investment and industry files during the past years, while Representative Abdul Hakim Masoud called for strengthening coordination to achieve a number of service demands, and Representative Hassan Jaafar stressed that the common goal is to serve the citizen and meet his needs.
For her part, Representative Mona Abdullah praised the support provided by the governorate to representatives, especially in the files of small projects and youth empowerment, while Representative Taha Al-Nazer suggested organizing youth activities in governorate centers to enhance community participation.
Representative Mohamed Ragab also appreciated the level of cooperation existing between executives and representatives, stressing that the primary goal is to serve the citizen, while Representative Aya Al-Fayoumi stressed the importance of continuing coordination to discuss citizens’ demands and propose realistic solutions to them.
A number of representatives, including Heba Abdel Azim, Muhammad Farouk, Ahmed Al-Junaidi, and Noha Al-Azhari, expressed their appreciation for holding such meetings that support development efforts, while Representative Abdullah Ali Mabrouk stressed the strength of the relationship between the executive branch and the representatives and their keenness to serve the people of the governorate.
Representative Youssef Al-Jamil indicated that the meeting represents the beginning of a new phase of joint institutional work between the executive and legislative authorities to achieve sustainable development, while Representative Sayed Muhammad Al-Gazzar stressed the importance of continuing coordination to ensure rapid response to citizens’ demands, and Representative Ahmed Shukri stressed the need to support legislative work for local development plans and improve the level of services.
The meeting was attended by the governorate’s leaders, Ahmed Desouki, Director of the Governor’s Office, Ashraf Hammad, Director of the General Department of Follow-up, Rehab Abdel Latif, Director of Political Communications, Noha Muhammad, Director of Public Relations and International Cooperation, and Saeed Ramadan, Director of the Media Department at the Governorate’s General Office.
