Major General Dr. Hisham Abu Al-Nasr, Governor, received AssiutAt the governorate’s general office, a delegation from one of the Indian companies specialized in road construction, maintenance and paving technology, in light of the state’s trend towards maximizing the benefit of modern and sustainable technical solutions in infrastructure projects.

Researching the localization of modern and highly efficient technology in road paving

The delegation included Sunil Gupta and Ashish Srivastava, directors of the company, and Kuldeep Kumar Singh, technical director, in the presence of Dr. Fatima Ayed, director of the governorate’s International Cooperation Department. The meeting discussed prospects for joint cooperation to benefit from the latest technologies used in developing the road system, keeping pace with sustainable development plans, enhancing reliance on environmentally friendly materials, and achieving higher efficiency in implementation while reducing construction and maintenance costs.

This meeting comes as a continuation of previous meetings held via video conference technology, and in light of the recent visit made by the Governor of Assiut to the Republic of India at the head of a delegation of businessmen and investors, and in activation of the strategic partnership agreement signed between Egypt and India in 2023, which aims to support the fields of manufacturing, technology transfer, and the localization of value-added industries.

During the meeting, Major General Dr. Hisham Abu Al-Nasr affirmed his aspiration to establish real, long-term partnerships with the Indian side, based on the exchange of experiences, joint manufacturing and marketing, in a way that serves the governorate’s development plans and achieves mutual benefit for both parties, stressing that the state does not aim to dispense with national companies, but rather works to support them through effective partnerships with foreign companies.

Following the meeting, the Governor of Assiut held an expanded meeting that included, along with an elite group of specialists, executives and university professors, including Dr. Hassan Younis, Emeritus Professor at the Faculty of Engineering, Assiut University and the Governor’s Advisor for Engineering Affairs, Dr. Mahmoud Enib, Professor of Roads and Traffic and Director of the Quality Assurance Unit at the Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Mahmoud Eweis, Professor of Roads and Traffic Engineering at Assiut University, Engineer Essam Abdel Zaher, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Housing in Assiut, and Engineer Ahmed Salah Fakhry, Director General of the Directorate of Roads and Transport. Engineer Mona Farghaly, Director of the Technical Office of the Housing and Utilities Directorate, and Dr. Fatima Ayed, Director of the International Cooperation Department, along with road sector officials from the Arab Contractors Company and the paving companies operating in Assiut, along with Engineer Hatem Abdel Sabour, Head of the Central Administration for Water Resources and Irrigation, Engineer Moamen Farid, Director General of Assiut Irrigation, and Engineer Sherif Lotfy, Director General of the Nile Protection in Assiut, to discuss the technical capabilities of the proposed technology, and the possibility of employing it in road projects and lining of canals, in addition to the projects of the “Hayat Karima” presidential initiative, including It contributes to accelerating the pace of implementation and raising the efficiency of service projects.

The possibility of localizing the manufacturing of paving materials within Assiut Governorate was also discussed, after completing the approved technical examinations and tests, with a study of introducing local raw materials into the manufacturing process, in a way that supports the localization of the industry, reduces implementation costs, and opens horizons for new export markets in the countries of the Middle East and the African continent.

At the conclusion of the meeting, it was agreed to exchange technical samples, implement experimental models, and hold subsequent meetings to present the results of technical tests and comparisons, and develop a final vision for the partnership mechanisms, in preparation for starting implementation steps on the ground, in a way that strengthens the road system and supports the local economy in the governorate.
