The Samsung Galaxy S25 FE comes as a lower-priced option compared to the Galaxy S25+, with a starting price of about $475, but achieving this price required clear compromises. Samsung relies on the slower Exynos 2400 processor, in addition to noticeable reductions in the camera system.
The phone includes a 50-megapixel main camera with an f/1.8 aperture and a 1/1.57-inch sensor, a 12-megapixel wide camera with an f/2.2 aperture and a small 1/3-inch sensor, in addition to an 8-megapixel telephoto camera with an f/2.2 aperture and a smaller 1/4.4-inch sensor with 3x optical zoom. DxOMark’s in-depth tests clearly revealed the extent of these compromises.
The Galaxy S25 FE received only 118 points, ranking 123rd globally, lagging behind older phones such as the iPhone 12 Pro Max, which scored 131 points, and even the cheaper Google Pixel 6a with 122 points.
Although the cameras provided acceptable exposure and colors in still images, several problems arose in other aspects. HDR videos sometimes looked dark with a pink tint due to unstable white balance. The small sensors also cause noticeable noise in photos and videos, even in good lighting conditions.
Using portrait mode with artificial isolation led to a clear loss of detail throughout the image, while unwanted distortions appeared when photographing moving objects.
Accordingly, DxOMark recommended that those looking for a powerful mid-range camera consider alternatives such as the Xiaomi 15, Google Pixel 10, or Xiaomi 14T instead of the Galaxy S25 FE.
